I was curious if anyone knew of any existing ontologies related to the categorization and understand of politics and ideologies?
The closest I know to this is the FAO geopolitical ontology http://www.fao.org/countryprofiles/geopolitical-ontology/download/en/
Political ideas being related to everything in society I don’t know how a general ontology could cover the topic. A debate and controversy ontology would be relevant
While they don’t have a published ontology for this, the people at Pol.is have been working toward something to categorize political issues and opinions. Their system has been used for discussions among voters in Taiwan, UK, NZ, and in organizations for consensus-building. They are working on graph-based representation – so the idea is perhaps less about representing politics overall, but for “bottom-up” political issues within a specific community. Might be worth discussing with them?
- https://lov.linkeddata.es/dataset/lov/terms?q=political shows 162 classes/props. Of particular note are: http://reference.data.gov.uk/def/parliament/, http://www.oegov.org/core/owl/gc, http://dati.camera.it/ocd/ (3 ontologies)

(FAO Geopolitical is about regions, not much to do with politics)
